The Roco 7580027 brings the classic electric locomotive E 42 015 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn in a detailed realization for the TT scale. In the early design with four distinctive double fan grilles and fine running gear, it is an authentic model for Era III scenarios.
The model is equipped with fine printing, cleanly realized housing details and a finely detailed chassis. The four double fan grilles and the stiffening beading on the frame are typical of the first model series. Numerous separately attached parts such as handle bars and roof superstructures ensure a high degree of prototypical fidelity.
The locomotive has a 5-pole motor with a flywheel that drives four axles, two of which have traction tires for additional tractive power. The lighting includes 3 headlights and 2 tail lights, switched depending on the direction of travel and designed in LED technology. A modern Next18 interface is provided for later digitalization. The model is designed for DC analog operation as standard.
The Deutsche Reichsbahn initially used old electric locomotives such as the E 04, E 44 and E 94. With the increasing demand for more modern machines, the LEW Hennigsdorf developed the E 11 (express train) and E 42 (freight train) series. Between 1961 and 1977, a total of 387 locomotives of these families were built. The early series from 1962 and 1963 - such as the E 42 015 - were particularly recognizable due to their four double fan grilles.
The model is designed for use on DC analog systems and can be retrofitted for digital operation at any time thanks to the Next18 interface. It is ideal for operation in front of freight trains, but also in front of DR local and express trains in Era III.
