The 7700013 H0 Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) 174 001-8 diesel rail car with trailer combines an exciting "what-if" story with outstanding model railroad technology. This model brings a fictitious but plausible railroad history to your H0 layout and impresses with prototypical workmanship and technical details.
In 1982, the wagon manufacturer Studenka from the CSSR presented an M152 series railcar at the Leipzig Spring Fair. As the DR was looking for a replacement for its class 171/172 light railcars, the railcar was rented on a trial basis and lettered as class 174 001-8. However, after extensive tests and the delivery of a suitable sidecar, it was not purchased for series production due to economic restrictions. The model depicts this hypothetical story in a fictitious DR livery.
The renowned manufacturer Roco impresses with a detailed and robust realization of this model. Separately attached windscreen wipers, enclosed plug-in parts to represent the closed front apron and prototypical lighting ensure a realistic representation. The model is equipped with DIP switches to adjust the lighting individually.
Era IV (1970-1990) was characterized by the modernization and standardization of the railroads. The 174 001-8 diesel railcar fits perfectly into this era and offers an exciting model for historical scenarios of the German Reichsbahn.
The model impresses with numerous functions that enhance both operation and authenticity:
The railcar is painted in a fictitious DR paint scheme that reflects the German State Railroad's love of experimentation. The sidecar in plain red completes the ensemble and gives the model an authentic character.
With a length over buffers of 322 mm and a minimum radius of 358 mm, the model is perfectly suited for H0 layouts. Thanks to the electrical interface in accordance with the PluX16 standard, decoders can easily be retrofitted to integrate the model into digital control systems.
The 7700013 H0 diesel railcar 174 001-8 with sidecar is a unique model that combines fictitious history and state-of-the-art technology. For model railroaders interested in DR Era IV, this set offers a fascinating highlight with lots of potential for creative scenarios. A clear recommendation for collectors and railroad enthusiasts!
