Deutsche Bahn 628 601 diesel railcar

Between 1992 and 1995, a total of 304 class 628.4/928.4 diesel multiple units entered service in Germany as a further development of the class 628.2. The main changes compared to their predecessors are the wider doors at the close coupler ends. In order not to lose any interior space, the car bodies of the two-car trains were each lengthened by half a meter with the same bogie spacing. This made them 46.4 meters long. The higher weight of the vehicles necessitated an increase in the power of the drive system, which now has an output of 485 kW instead of 410 kW. The vehicles are in service in most regions of Germany.
