The Roco 78191 steam locomotive 10 002 brings the impressive technology and elegance of the last Pacific express locomotives of the German Federal Railroad (DB) from Era III to your H0 layout. The class 10 was developed by Krupp in Essen in 1953 in order to modernize steam traction despite its foreseeable end. In 1957, two elegant locomotives were delivered, which differed in the way they were fired: While the 10 001 was initially fitted with an auxiliary oil firing system, the 10 002 was equipped with an oil main firing system from the outset. Both locomotives reached a top speed of 140 km/h and an output of 1,839 kW. Due to the high axle load, they could only be used on selected main lines. In 1967, the 10 002 was taken out of service following damage and later scrapped. Its sister locomotive, the 10 001, is preserved today in the German Steam Locomotive Museum in Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg.
