Description

Roco 79396 H0 Steam locomotive 38 3713, DRG, Ep. II, AC sound - Reichsbahn classic with digital sound for AC systems

The Roco 79396 steam locomotive 38 3713 is an exclusive edition model for AC railroaders that represents the legendary Prussian P8 in its DRG version from Era II. This special shape variant without dynamic steam impresses with authentic details such as a boiler without wind deflectors, filigree spoke wheels and true-to-original Reichsbahn lanterns. Supplemented by digital sound functions and switchable LED lighting, this model is a sonorous highlight of any H0 layout with AC system.

Historically correct and lovingly implemented

The 38 3713 appears in the typical Reichsbahn look of the transition period with an olive green boiler, red-brown running gear and already updated DRG signage. This colour combination was widespread until around 1930, before the standardized black/red livery was introduced. The fine smokebox door, spoked wheels and the absence of wind deflectors emphasize the special character of this locomotive variant.

Digital equipment with sound and light

The model is equipped with a PluX22 digital decoder especially for AC operation. The integrated locomotive sound brings the reality of a steam locomotive to your layout - from the exhaust note to the whistle and typical shunting noises. There is also separately switchable cab and engine lighting, which provides atmospheric lighting effects and visually enhances the model.

Solid technology for reliable operation

The locomotive has two powered axles with two traction tires, a flywheel and a minimum radius of 358 mm. These features guarantee smooth running characteristics and sufficient tractive power for typical Era II passenger trains. The in-house coupler with close coupler kinematics enables realistic car transitions and easy integration into existing train formations.

Iconic locomotive of German railroad history

Over 3,700 Prussian P8 locomotives were built by 1923. With an output of 880 kW and a top speed of 100 km/h, the later 38.10-40 series was the backbone of passenger and express train services. Its reliability and versatility made it one of the most important locomotives of the Reichsbahn era - today an indispensable model on historically oriented layouts.
