Description

With a length of over 360 millimetres and a weight of over one kilogram, this is a truly epochal metal model - the Simson Schwalbe KR 51/1 on a large scale of 1:5 from Schuco. Manufactured at the "Fahrzeug- und Jagdwaffenwerk Ernst Thälmann", the Simson factory in Suhl, the Schwalbe was the first model in Simson's so-called Vogel series from 1964.so-called Vogel series from Simson. The "Star", "Spatz", "Sperber" and "Habicht" models were also produced in Suhl in not inconsiderable numbers. However, with a production volume of over one million units, the Schwalbe outshines all predecessor and successor models, making it the most successful two-wheeler in German two-wheeler history in terms of unit sales. Its 49.6 cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine produced 3.4 hp at 6500 rpm and helped the Simson Schwalbe reach a top speed of 60 kilometers per hour.
