Description

Are you looking for a digital central unit for digital model railroad layouts in all nominal sizes?

The tams elektronik 40-03077-01 mc² digital central unit Master Control 2 - Black Edition, Version V2-9 is designed for digital model railway layouts and can be used for all nominal sizes according to the information provided. The exact product designation is Tams Elektronik 40-03077-01 - mc² | MasterControl 2 | V2-9. This means that customers receive a clearly assignable digital central unit with the item number 40-03077-01 and the Black Edition version V2-9.

The command station is not a toy and is not suitable for children under the age of 14. It is aimed at model railroaders who are looking for a central digital control solution with different digital protocols, various interfaces, RailCom feedback and an integrated booster. The mc² Master Control 2 V2-9 can be connected to external control units, feedback devices, boosters, track outputs and a computer interface thanks to the large number of connections mentioned.

Digital protocols and decoder addresses

The mc² Master Control 2 V2-9 supports the digital protocols Motorola-I and Motorola-II, DCC according to NMRA and RCN standards as well as m3 for controlling mfx decoders. Feedback via m3 is not included. 255 addresses from 1 to 255 are available for vehicle decoders in Motorola format. In DCC format, 10,239 addresses from 1 to 10239 are possible. For m3, 16,384 vehicle decoder addresses are specified.

Motorola supports 14 or 27 speed steps in variants a or b. DCC offers 14, 28 or 128 speed steps. 126 speed steps are specified for m3. The function control is also divided into protocols: Motorola supports function as well as f1 to f4, DCC supports f0 to f31 or f32.768, and m3 supports f0 as well as f1 to f31.

Accessory decoders and feedback formats

1,020 addresses from 1 to 1,020 are available for accessory decoders in Motorola format. In DCC format, 2,040 accessory decoder addresses from 1 to 2,040 are specified. No values are specified for the accessory decoder addresses for m3.

RailCom is specified as the feedback format. The integrated booster has a RailCom cutout that can be switched off and an integrated global RailCom detector. The RailCom specifications are therefore clearly part of the equipment described.

Interfaces for control units, feedback devices and computers

Several interfaces are available for connecting external control units. These include Märklin CAN bus via Mini-Din 10-pin, LocoNet via RJ 12, EasyNet via RJ 45, XpressNet via RJ 12 and rec / "Sniffer" via a 2-pin connection with RM 2.54 mm.

Märklin CAN bus 10-pin, LocoNet RJ12, s88-N RJ45 and BiDiB RJ45 are specified for connecting external feedback devices. For s88-N, the maximum number is 52 s88 or s88-compatible modules with 832 contacts. For BiDiB, a maximum of 31 BiDiB nodes are specified in one level.

The control center has a LAN RJ 45 / TCP computer interface. BiDiB, p50x and Z21 are specified as protocols. There is also an audio interface: a line-out output for connecting active speakers or amplifiers via a 2.5 mm stereo jack plug.

Booster, track outputs and electrical properties

Märklin-compatible, DCC-compliant, BiDiB and LocoNet interfaces are specified for external boosters. LocoNet is only specified for versions V2-6 and V2-9. The track outputs include main track and DCC programming track.

The power supply is 24 volts DC. A switching power supply unit to supply the central unit and the tracks in the booster section of the integrated booster is included in the scope of delivery. The maximum total current for versions V2-9 is 9.2 A. A maximum total of 1,200 mA is specified for external digital devices. For s88 modules the maximum current is 200 mA, for LocoNet modules a maximum of 500 mA.

Integrated booster of version V2-9

The integrated booster offers an output voltage of 8 to 22 V digital voltage, regulated and adjustable in steps of 1 V. The maximum output current for versions V2-9 is 1 to 9 A and can be set in steps of 0.5 A. The maximum power consumption of the V2-9 versions is 198 watts.

The digital formats of the integrated booster are DCC, Motorola and m3. The output signal is symmetrical. For safety, there is an automatic switch-off in the event of overload. The short-circuit sensitivity is adjustable from 10 to 2,000 ms.
