Would you like to expand your Era III freight trains with typical vehicles from the early Deutsche Reichsbahn? The Tillig 01143 TT 2-Piece Set Ttehkor Refrigerated Freight Cars is an exclusive new design based on the MK 4-61 model from VEB Waggonbau Dessau – historically accurate, technically sophisticated, and indispensable for realistic refrigerated transport of the 1950s and 60s in 1:120 scale.
The Ttehkor-class refrigerated freight cars had their own power supply for cooling and could therefore be operated independently of external power sources. This made them ideal for single-car operation or for complete refrigerated trains—a typical sight in DR freight transport during Era III. They were primarily used to transport perishable goods such as meat, fish, and dairy products across the GDR.
The set consists of two engine-powered refrigerated cars with a total length over the buffers of 316 mm. Both models are finely detailed: with ventilation grilles, engine units, roof structures, and realistic Era III DR lettering. The distinctive side panels and technical design perfectly reflect the prototype of the MK 4-61 type—a real eye-catcher in any train formation.
Thanks to NEM-compliant coupler mounts and close-coupling kinematics, the cars can be easily integrated into daily operations. Whether as a connected pair of refrigerated cars or in mixed freight trains—this set brings operational variety and visual authenticity to your layout.
The Ttehkor cars combine excellently with other early DR freight cars—such as G-cars, open O-cars, or early tank cars. Suitable locomotives include the Class 55, 86, or 92 series—perfect companions for refrigerated trains in Era III scenes such as wholesale markets, dairies, or transfer stations.
The Tillig 01143 TT 2-Car Set Ttehkor Refrigerated Freight Cars is a must-have for anyone who wants to enhance their layout with authentic vehicles from the early Deutsche Reichsbahn. As a completely newly designed model, it impresses with its close resemblance to the prototype, fine craftsmanship, and high practicality for everyday use in model railroading.
