Tillig 02263 TT steam locomotive BR 52, DR, Ep. III Product Details

Description

A classic of post-war freight transportation: The DR class 52 with rigid frame tender

The Tillig 02263 TT steam locomotive class 52 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn is a powerful novelty 2026 and embodies the transition from the war economy to the reconstruction period in the GDR like hardly any other locomotive. With a rigid frame tender and based in the Pankow depot, this model reflects the robust everyday operation of early Era III - authentic, powerful and prototypically realized.

Model information & technical data

The locomotive is produced on a scale of 1:120 for the TT gauge and measures 191 mm over buffers. The product weighs approx. 300 g including packaging. Equipped with a digital interface according to NEM 662, it is sound-capable and prepared for the installation of an electric coupler. The minimum radius of 310 mm enables safe use even on narrow track.

Technology & driving characteristics

Four traction tires ensure reliable traction. The model has an NEM coupler pocket and close coupler kinematics for prototypical car connections. The 2-light headlights depending on the direction of travel round off the technology package - ideal for realistic operating situations on your layout.

Appearance & historical design

The class 52 has the appearance of the German State Railroad in Era III - with typical locomotive signs, functional paint scheme and robust rigid frame tender. Detailed boiler and running gear design as well as a true-to-scale realization of the tender make this model a highlight in freight train service.

Prototype: Class 52 - wartime steam locomotive in post-war service

The class 52 was originally designed as a so-called war locomotive for maximum efficiency and fast production. After the Second World War, it was taken over by the DR in large numbers and continued to be operated for decades - especially in heavy freight service. The version with a rigid frame tender was typical for the late period of use in the GDR, often in the Berlin area - as here in the Pankow depot.

For model railroaders with a focus on GDR freight traffic and everyday operations

The Tillig BR 52 is ideal for the construction of authentic freight trains and operating dioramas of the early DR era. Whether in shunting service, on main lines or as a highlight of historical operating displays - this locomotive brings power, history and precision to your TT layout.
