Description

Tillig 02929 Steam locomotive 99 0234-7, DR, Era IV - A model of historic narrow gauge locomotives

The Tillig 02929 steam locomotive 99 0234-7 represents one of the impressive narrow gauge locomotives of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) in Era IV. This H0m scale model offers a detailed reproduction of the historic locomotives that were originally developed for the Eisfeld-Schönbrunn line. With a length over buffers (LüP) of 145 mm and a track gauge of 12 mm, this locomotive fits seamlessly into your existing collection and enriches every narrow gauge model railroad layout with its extraordinary technology and history.

The prototype for this locomotive dates back to the 1930s, when the DRG needed more powerful locomotives for the Saxon narrow gauge railroads. The class 99 was specially developed for these demanding lines and offered impressive performance in a compact design. Although only a few of these locomotives were built, they still characterize the image of the narrow-gauge railroads in the Harz Mountains and Thuringia today. Locomotive 99 0234-7 in particular has an eventful history behind it and is still in service on the lines of the Harz Narrow Gauge Railway (HSB).

Technical finesse and historic charm

The Tillig 02929 impresses with its prototypical paintwork and the finest printing, which captures the historic charm of the locomotives from the 1970s. The locomotive has a 3-light headlights at both ends of the car that switch depending on the direction of travel. This lighting not only ensures an authentic appearance, but also makes the model functional and ready for use on your model railway layout.

The digital interface in accordance with NEM 662 makes it possible to easily equip the locomotive with a digital decoder so that it can be used optimally on modern layouts. The coupler pocket has been developed in-house and fits perfectly with the other narrow gauge wagons from Tillig. With a minimum radius of 310 mm, this model is also ideal for use on smaller layouts.

Prototypical narrow gauge locomotive of Era IV

The prototype of the Tillig 02929 was built at the end of the 1920s for the Deutsche Reichsbahn. This series was the answer to the desire for more powerful locomotives for the narrow gauge lines in Saxony and Thuringia. The Eisfeld-Schönbrunn line in particular benefited from these locomotives. In the 1970s, locomotive 99 0234-7 was fitted with a mixed preheater system, which made it similar in appearance to the new locomotives built in the 1950s. These locomotives were optimized for demanding operation on narrow-gauge lines and set new standards in terms of performance and reliability.

After the closure of some lines in the 1970s, all locomotives of this series were transferred to the Harzquerbahn, where they are still in use today. In the mid-1970s, the engines were converted to oil firing in order to make operation more efficient. However, as early as 1982, after the oil crisis, the conversion to grate firing was reversed. Today, these locomotives are part of the permanent fleet of the Harz Narrow Gauge Railways, which has been operating as a private company again since 1993.

A must for collectors and narrow gauge enthusiasts

The Tillig 02929 steam locomotive 99 0234-7 is not only a highlight for collectors of narrow gauge models, but also a functional enrichment for every model railway layout. Thanks to the digital interface, the model can be easily integrated into modern digital systems, and the fine details make it a real eye-catcher. The locomotive is ideal for use on narrow-gauge layouts and offers maximum driving fun thanks to its prototypical design and outstanding technical features.

This model combines the historic charm of narrow gauge locomotives with modern technology and precise workmanship. It is a true masterpiece from Tillig that will delight lovers of narrow gauge railroads. Whether on the layout or in the display case - the 99 0234-7 steam locomotive is a must for every serious model railroader.
