Tillig 04294 TT steam locomotive Reihe Ty5, PKP, Ep. III Product Details

Description

Polish steam power in a model - the Ty5 of the PKP in Era III

With the Tillig 04294 TT steam locomotive Ty5 of the Polish State Railways (PKP), an impressive shape variant of the well-known war locomotive BR 52 will be released in 2026 - specially adapted to PKP operation in the post-war period. This new model features typical Polish lanterns, a new smokebox door and other country-specific details that make it an authentic addition to international layouts.

Model information & technical data

The locomotive is produced on a scale of 1:120 for TT gauge and measures 191 mm over buffers. The total weight is approx. 300 g including packaging. It is equipped with a digital interface in accordance with NEM 662 and can be retrofitted with sound and electric couplers. The minimum radius is 310 mm.

Technology & driving characteristics

The model is equipped with four traction tires for powerful operation. The NEM coupler pocket and close coupler kinematics enable reliable train formation. 3-light headlights at both ends of the vehicle with direction-dependent switching ensure realistic operation.

Change in shape & visual features

The special highlight of this model is the CHANGE IN SHAPE: The PKP-specific locomotive lanterns and the modified smokebox door have been specially redesigned for this version. In addition, there is authentic lettering and the functional military paint scheme - completely in the style of the PKP of the 1950s and 60s.

Prototype: Ty5 - war locomotive with Polish history

The Ty5 is the Polish designation for the class 52, large numbers of which remained in the PKP fleet after the Second World War. It was extensively modernized and adapted to the operating conditions in Poland - including new lighting systems and adapted boiler equipment. The Ty5 was a mainstay of heavy freight traffic for decades.

For model railroaders with an eye for international variety and technical authenticity

The Tillig Ty5 is ideal for building historically correct PKP train formations or cross-border operating scenarios in Era III. A perfect addition for TT layouts with an Eastern European or mixed international focus.
