With the Tillig 12082 TT Postal Car Post4, you can bring an important chapter of German railway history to your layout. During Era III, rail mail service was a central component of passenger and freight operations. This faithfully designed car from the German Federal Post Office adds an authentic service vehicle in 1:120 scale to historical train sets.
The model features the typical green color scheme of the Bundespost with fine printing and realistic details such as doors, windows, and roof structures. The interior is factory-installed and, with retrofittable interior lighting, allows for impressive nighttime or station scenes. The design is based precisely on the prototypes from the 1950s and 1960s.
Equipped with a coupler mount and close-coupling kinematics, the rail mail car can be easily integrated into typical Era III train sets. Its running characteristics are optimized for demanding model railroad operations—even on tighter curves.
During Era III, the railroad was the most important means of transport for letters and parcels. Special rail mail cars such as the Post4 were carried by the Deutsche Bundespost on DB trains, often at the front or rear of the set. They were used for sorting and distributing mail while the train was in motion—an important logistical factor in everyday life during the postwar period.
The car is an ideal fit for Epoch III DB train sets consisting of express train cars, baggage cars, and locomotives such as the BR 01, BR 03, or V 200. It realistically complements both classic long-distance trains and mixed mail and passenger trains.
An indispensable model for historical layout builders, collectors, and anyone who wants to realistically depict everyday railway life in the 1950s and 1960s. Particularly interesting for model railroapers focused on operational trains with functional diversity.
Step into the world of rail mail now: The Tillig 12082 TT Rail Mail Car Post4, Deutsche Bundespost brings historical logistics to your layout—now available in the model train shop!
