With the Tillig 95017 TT SSt 49 low-bed car from the Deutsche Bundesbahn, you’ll receive an exceptional model for heavy-haul transport—including a realistically reproduced load featuring an impressive steam boiler. This Era III highlight brings the industrial history and freight transport of the 1950s and 1960s to your 1:120-scale model railroad with meticulous attention to detail.
The SSt 49 was a special low-bed car used by the Deutsche Bundesbahn to transport particularly heavy and bulky goods—including machine parts, boilers, transformers, and large industrial components. Such transports were logistically complex and were often carried out on main lines using lead or pushing locomotives.
The Tillig model impresses with its intricate design of the car frame, harmonious color scheme, and highly detailed cargo: A massive steam boiler, mounted on the low-bed platform true to the original, creates a realistic heavy-haul transport scenario. The lettering corresponds to the style of Era III, including technical markings and DB car numbers.
The flatbed car is designed for the TT (1:120) scale and runs on a 12 mm track gauge. With an impressive length over buffers of 204 mm, this model ranks among the largest single cars in the TT segment. Thanks to the NEM coupler mount and close-coupling mechanism, safe operation is guaranteed—despite its extraordinary length.
The SSt 49 integrates perfectly into heavy-haul or special trains, ideally hauled by powerful steam locomotives such as the BR 44 or BR 50. Even when combined with other flatcars and stake cars from this era, the model offers maximum authenticity for realistic operating scenes.
