Why B-goods: Slight signs of use.
Increasing train loads at the beginning of the 20th century also required more powerful machines in Bavaria. Maffei therefore received the order to build a Pacific compound locomotive for the Bavarian state railroad in the spring of 1907. The first machine of the new S 3/6 series left the factory in July 1908 and was followed by six more in the same year (Nos. 3601-3607). In three series (a to c), Maffei delivered a further 16 largely identical units (Nos. 3608-3623) by 1911. Deviating from these first 23 locomotives, the next 18 machines (series d and e, Maffei 1912/1913, Nos. 3624-3641) received driving wheels with a diameter of 2,000 mm instead of 1,870 mm. As a result, the boiler of these machines was also higher and they quickly became known as "Hochhaxige". All of these S 3/6s were initially based at the Munich I depot (main station) and mainly ran express trains in all directions from there, including on the Munich - Ulm - Stuttgart route.
