Locomotive 185 537, nicknamed “Zippo,” thus carries the spirit of Roncalli onto the rails and becomes the modern driving force behind a circus theme steeped in tradition.
In 2026, Roncalli will embark on a major anniversary tour. The romantic, partly ancient circus cars will be transported by rail in an 800-meter-long special train. The Trix 22469 captures this special event in H0 scale, making it an excellent collector’s model, special-train locomotive, or eye-catcher on a modern Era VI layout.
The model is equipped with a digital decoder and extensive sound functions. The centrally mounted special motor drives all four axles via cardan shafts. Traction tires enhance the locomotive’s pulling power and make it particularly well-suited for layout operation. Thus, the model combines its striking exterior design with powerful technical features.
The lighting is also extensively implemented. The three-light headlight, which changes direction depending on the direction of travel, and two red tail lights operate conventionally and can be switched digitally. The headlights on locomotive sides 1 and 2 can each be switched off separately via digital control. When the headlights on both sides of the locomotive are turned off, the double-A light function is available on both sides.
Another highlight is the metal locomotive body. It lends the locomotive a high-quality appearance and gives it a solid presence on the layout. Lighting is provided by maintenance-free, warm-white and red LEDs. Two mechanically functional roof pantographs round out the appearance of the electric locomotive.
With a length over the buffers of 21.7 cm, the Trix BR 185.1 makes a strong impression in H0 scale.
