Description

Trix 22611 H0 Class 110.3 "Elephant Express" Electric Locomotive, TRI, Ep. VI - A special class anniversary model

The 110 469-4 electric locomotive from TRI Train Rental was given a special paint scheme for the 50th anniversary of the popular blue elephant from the "Sendung mit der Maus" show. The colorful "Elephant Express" shows the well-known characters mouse, elephant and duck on a journey and at the birthday party. The ceremonial presentation of this unique locomotive took place on January 8, 2025 at Cologne Central Station. Since then, the locomotive has been in use throughout Germany, causing a stir on the rails. This gives railroad fans the opportunity to take spectacular photos of this unique locomotive.

The role model: The class 110 - a German cult locomotive

The class 110 electric locomotive is one of the best-known German locomotives. Originally developed for the express train service of the German Federal Railways, this locomotive proved its versatility over the decades. The so-called creased locomotive body, which gives it an aerodynamic design, is particularly striking. Locomotive 110 469-4 is part of the Train Rental GmbH (TRI) fleet and was given the eye-catching special livery for the anniversary of the elephant from the "Sendung mit der Maus" TV show in 2025.

Spectacular design for the anniversary

The locomotive features a lovingly designed livery with the popular characters from "Sendung mit der Maus" - the mouse, the elephant and the duck. The characters are depicted in a cheerful design while traveling and at the birthday party. This special design makes the locomotive not only a highlight on the tracks, but also a coveted collector's item for model railroad fans.

Trix - true to detail and innovative technology in H0

The Trix 22611 H0 class 110.3 electric locomotive will impress you with its high precision and excellent workmanship. The locomotive has finely detailed pantographs of the DBS 54 type that can be raised and lowered digitally. The cab and engine room lighting can also be switched digitally, providing an authentic operating picture. The built-in digital decoder supports DCC, mfx and RailCom and offers extensive light and sound functions that make the model a real highlight.

Era VI - A modern prototype for the model railway

Era VI covers the period from 2007 onwards and represents current railroad operations. The "Elefantenexpress" is a perfect example of the reuse of historical locomotives in modern times. With its eye-catching design, the locomotive clearly stands out from other vehicles and provides special accents on the model railway layout.

Technical equipment and digital features

The Trix 22611 H0 Class 110.3 "Elephant Express" electric locomotive has state-of-the-art technology. In addition to the digitally controllable pantographs, the locomotive has a buffer height according to NEM and a buffer storage unit that can bridge short sections without power. The kinematics-guided close couplers ensure realistic train formation. Thanks to the light change from red to white with LEDs and the switchable driver's cab lighting, the locomotive presents itself authentically in model operation. Extensive sound functions, including typical driving noises, make the driving experience particularly realistic.

Power system and driving characteristics

This model is designed for operation with 2-wire direct current (DC) and is compatible with digital control systems. The locomotive offers excellent driving performance and can be optimally integrated into existing DC systems.

Color scheme and design

The locomotive is presented in a unique special livery for the anniversary of the "Sendung mit der Maus". The mouse, elephant and duck figures are depicted in a colorful design that clearly sets the locomotive apart from conventional railroad vehicles. This makes them an absolute eye-catcher on any model railway layout.

Quality and attention to detail

As you would expect from Trix, this model also impresses with the highest precision and robust workmanship. The combination of high-quality materials and the finest details ensures a realistic reproduction of the real locomotive. Thanks to the integrated digital decoder, numerous control options are available to implement the light, sound and driving functions optimally.

Care and maintenance

The wheels and pantographs should be cleaned regularly to ensure a long service life for the locomotive. Dust deposits can be removed with a soft brush or compressed air. The digital control system should be checked regularly to guarantee optimum performance of the sound and light functions.
