About the prototype: Originally known as the E 10, the first class 110 locomotives saw the light of day in 1952. For many decades, the class 110 was considered one of the most important locomotive series of the DB. Over 400 units were built and used for express train services throughout Germany. With the stretcher design, the locomotives' area of use shifted to local transport until 2020, when the last BR 115, as a sub-series of the BR 110, retired from scheduled service almost 70 years after the first locomotive was built. Until 2020, these locomotives primarily pulled "passenger trains for special purposes" or were used to transfer cars.
About the model: With this reproduction of the class 110, Trix offers a technically and visually very convincing model that depicts the operating condition around 1978. The model is visually impressive due to the excellent reproduction of the shape of the locomotive body, a large number of intricate details and a paint scheme that is true to the original. This is characterized by the high precision of the prints and lettering and the excellent color tone. The many details include precisely reproduced roof electronics, including digitally raised and lowered pantographs, which perfectly reproduce the originals of the DBS 54 design as a new construction, fan grilles, free-standing grab rails and a very detailed running gear. The locomotive also impresses across the board with its technical features. It has a centrally installed, controlled high-performance drive with flywheel, which drives 4 axles and thus ensures excellent running characteristics, a great transfer of power to the track and high tractive power. The extensive light and sound functions can be controlled digitally using the factory-fitted sound decoder. A high-quality loudspeaker ensures that the sound functions sound powerful, clear and true to the original.
