One of the most impressive express locomotives in German railroad history is making an impressive return to the model railroad tracks with the Trix 25019 H0 "Sachsenstolz" class 19.0 steam locomotive. This model combines technical sophistication with a historical prototype that became famous far beyond the borders of Saxony. The detailed realization in H0 scale is a real highlight for collectors, railroad enthusiasts and anyone interested in the history of the German Reichsbahn.
The locomotive is based on the Saxon class XX HV, which was later used by the German State Railroad of the GDR under the class 19.0. It is equipped with a controlled high-performance drive, which is supported by a flywheel mass in the boiler. Four axles are driven, with traction tires providing the necessary traction. The locomotive is visually impressive with its large wind deflectors and an authentic reproduction of the road number 19 016 as it was used in the early 1950s. The color scheme and design are true to the historical model. The driver's cab is equipped with hinged doors and an imitation of the curtains between the locomotive and tender, which further emphasizes the attention to detail.
The express locomotive was developed at the Sächsische Maschinenfabrik in Chemnitz and was one of the most powerful steam locomotives of its time with 1800 HP and an operating weight of 162 tons. A total of 23 units were built between 1918 and 1923. The Deutsche Reichsbahn continued to use the locomotive after the Second World War before its scheduled use ended in 1958. The locomotive was able to show off its strengths particularly in the Saxon mountains and was therefore affectionately known as the "Saxon Pride".
The locomotive is designed for a minimum radius of R2 (437.5 mm), but can also be operated on R1 tracks with a careful driving style. The buffer height on the locomotive and tender complies with the NEM standard. A close coupler with kinematics provides a prototypical connection between the locomotive and tender. There is also an NEM shaft on the tender for a close coupling with kinematics. Add-on parts such as piston rod protection tubes and brake hoses are included in the scope of delivery.
