The express steam locomotive 18 314 - affectionately called "Schorsch" - is one of the most unusual locomotives of the German State Railroad of the GDR. Once put into service in 1919 as a Baden "noble racer" of the IV h series, it was taken over by the VES-M Halle as a test locomotive after the Second World War and rebuilt several times. In 1960, it was fitted with a rebuilt boiler, partial cladding, a new driver's cab and an oil tender. In 1967, it was converted to oil main firing. In its green livery with Witte wind deflectors and indusi on one side, it is a truly unique locomotive in its operating condition around 1968.
The locomotive was decommissioned in 1971 and transferred to West Germany in 1984. Since 1986, it has been on permanent loan from the HEF and is one of the highlights of the Auto and Technology Museum in Sinsheim. With the Trix 25029, you can bring this legend to your layout as a highly detailed model.
The model has controlled high-efficiency propulsion with a flywheel in the boiler, three powered axles and traction tires. A smoke insert fitted as standard produces a dynamic, speed-dependent steam output.
A DCC/mfx decoder with RailCom support enables extensive operating and sound functions. In addition, two red front lights, the cab and running gear lighting can be controlled digitally. The lighting is provided by maintenance-free warm white and red LEDs. An integrated buffer memory bridges short-term power interruptions.
The locomotive and the 2'2'T34 oil tender are largely made of metal and impress with a large number of applied details. The close coupling between the locomotive and tender is kinematic, as is the coupling on the tender with NEM shaft. The scope of delivery also includes piston rod protection tubes, brake hoses and an exchangeable cowling without wheel cut-out for large radii or showcase presentation.
The Trix 25029 is a highlight for collectors, fans of technology and model railroaders with a focus on Era III and the history of the DR. Ideal for demanding DC digital layouts with an interest in rare locomotive technology and historical conversions.
