About the prototype: The RAe 4/8 1021 railcar, also known as the Red Double Arrow, was produced on the occasion of the Swiss National Exhibition in 1939. It became famous because it was used in 1946 to take Winston Churchill through Switzerland as a state guest, which earned it the additional nickname "Churchill Arrow". As it was never intended as a conventional passenger train, but always as a charter train and is therefore used as a hireable excursion train, it only has one coach class. This includes 28 tables for four, which together offer space for 112 guests, as well as a minibar in the middle of the vehicle. The train's maximum permitted speed of 150 km/h was never reached in regular passenger service, as this is waived for reasons of comfort and a maximum speed of 100 km/h is used. Due to its age, the maximum speed for transfer journeys is nowadays given as 125-130 km/h. The "Churchill Arrow" can be recognized by its bright red colouring and the typical elongated nose.
About the model: This multiple unit, with its history, deserves an appropriate model that Trix can offer. The model does an excellent job of conveying the striking design of the original and has a variety of light and sound functions. The lighting options include a Swiss light change, a three-light headlights, which can be switched to a red marker light, and a white marker light. Furthermore, a red driving authorization signal can be switched depending on the direction of travel.
In the interior, both the driver's cab and the passenger areas are equipped with interior lighting and the passenger table lighting can also be switched digitally. The lighting is implemented in the form of LEDs, which minimize the maintenance effort and provide a pleasant light. If you would like to use the model as a showcase model or prefer to drive on large radii, you can perfect the appearance of the carriages with the enclosed bogie covers. The digital decoder also makes it possible to call up a variety of sound functions.
