Trix 25423 electric locomotive Re 4/4, Ep. III Product Details

Description

PIKO Re 4/4 SBB Era III electric locomotive - Historic beauty of the Swiss Federal Railways

The PIKO electric locomotive Re 4/4 of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB ) from the first construction series, in the original fir green basic color scheme, is a true masterpiece of model making. This locomotive not only represents the technical excellence of the 1950s, but also the fascinating aesthetics of the early electric locomotives. The model was developed with the greatest attention to detail based on the Re 4/4 I, which was in service from 1958. A special highlight of this model is the depiction of the front transition doors and the transition plates, which are typical of the original appearance of the locomotive.

Technical details of the PIKO Re 4/4 SBB

The model is powered by a controlled high-performance drive with flywheel mass, which ensures excellent running characteristics. Drive is provided by all 4 axles and is supported by traction tires, which gives the model high tractive power. The centrally installed motor, together with the flywheel, ensures a smooth ride, even with longer and heavier trains. This makes the model ideal for operation on your model railroad.

The model is equipped with directional lighting that provides 3 headlights and 1 marker light (Swiss light change). The lighting is provided by modern LED technology, which guarantees a long service life and energy-efficient use. In digital operation, you can also switch off the headlights on locomotive sides 1 and 2 separately in digital operation to make the function even more realistic. The model is also equipped with a double A light function, which provides a particularly authentic effect.

The prototype of the Re 4/4 SBB

The Re 4/4 was developed as a powerful electric locomotive for the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) and was one of the best-known models of the 1950s. With an output of 2,000 kW and a top speed of 125 km/h, it was designed for heavy passenger and freight services. The Re 4/4 I, as it was called in the first construction series, was characterized by its fir green paintwork and its striking design. The locomotive was used until the 1980s and was an indispensable part of the SBB fleet for many decades.
