Description

Trix 25425 H0 Class ICM-1 "Koploper" Electric Multiple Unit, NS, Ep. IV - The Dutch Intercity Classic on Your Layout

With the Trix 25425 "Koploper" ICM-1 electric multiple unit, you can experience Dutch intercity history up close on your H0 layout. The striking three-car multiple unit with the typical yellow and blue paint scheme of the Dutch State Railways (NS) represents the delivery status of Era IV in the years 1984-1988. The characteristic design, the prototypical train destination display "Hoek van Holland" and technical refinements make this train a highlight for international model railroad fans.

Technical data and product details

Design & workmanship

The ICM-1 multiple unit has been lovingly built with great attention to detail: With realistic lettering, including road number 4015, prototypical LED lights and correctly reproduced window divisions. The realistically designed crossovers with indicated Scharfenberg couplings and the optional open swing doors are particularly striking. Together with the warm white LED interior lighting fitted as standard, the interior design of the driver's cabs and carriages ensures a high level of realism even during night-time operation.

Technical features & special functions

The controlled high-performance drive with flywheel mass in the motorized end car ensures powerful and smooth running characteristics. Two axles in a bogie are powered and have traction tires. The lighting (headlights, marker lights, interior lighting) depends on the direction of travel, can be used conventionally, and can be controlled digitally. The headlights on the two end car sides can also be switched off separately. A rigid coupling connection is included for double traction. The included Dutch station announcements also make the model an acoustic experience.

Historical background

The ICM-1 series, also known internally as the "Koploper", was a milestone in intercity transport in the Netherlands. Introduced in 1983, it stood for modern comfort and fast travel between Dutch cities. Typical of the ICM series is the high driver's cab above the gangway door - hence the nickname "Koploper" (head runner). The train shown here with the train destination display "Hoek van Holland" perfectly embodies the typical appearance of the 1980s at NS.

Compatibility & expansion options

The model is suitable for H0 DC layouts and can be ideally integrated into international scenarios. The digital technology (DCC/mfx, RailCom-capable) offers numerous control options. Thanks to the close coupler with splitter guide and the rigid coupler included, realistic double traction can be easily implemented.
