Description

Trix 25830 H0 Class 051 Steam Locomotive, DB, Ep. IV: Classic Freight Locomotive of the 1970s

The Trix 25830 H0 class 051 steam loc omotive is a detailed reproduction of the sturdy freight steam locomotive of the German Federal Railroad (DB) from the early 1970s. With a cab tender, Witte wind deflectors and impressive technical equipment, this model is an impressive representation of Era IV. The combination of high-quality workmanship and extensive digital functions makes this locomotive a highlight for any model railroad layout.

The prototype: Class 051 freight steam locomotive

The class 051 is a further development of the well-known class 50, which was specially designed for freight traffic. It was equipped with a cabin tender that provided additional protection for the personnel. The locomotive with the road number 051 341-6 was equipped with Witte wind deflectors, shortened endshields and modern DB reflective glass lamps. Its operating condition at the beginning of the 1970s shows the steam locomotive in a phase in which it continued to play an important role in heavy freight traffic.

Detailed replica and high-quality workmanship

The model impresses with its precise reproduction of the characteristic features of the prototype. The cab tender, the Witte wind deflectors and the four boiler superstructures have been faithfully reproduced. The shortened circulation and the equipment with Indusi systems on both sides give the model additional authenticity. The locomotive and tender are largely made of metal, which ensures a high level of stability and feel.

Extensive digital functions

The locomotive is equipped with a digital decoder that offers numerous light and sound functions. The three-light headlights change over with the direction of travel and can be operated conventionally and switched digitally. A retrofittable smoke unit (item no. 7226) can also be controlled digitally. The cab lighting can be controlled separately in digital operation. Maintenance-free warm white LEDs provide realistic and long-lasting lighting.

Powerful technology

The controlled high-performance drive with centrally installed flywheel drives five axles. Traction tires ensure a high tractive force so that the locomotive can easily handle even heavy freight trains. The close-coupling kinematics between the locomotive and tender as well as at the front and tender end ensure safe operation on the layout. The model is designed for a minimum radius of 360 mm and can therefore be used in a variety of ways.

Typical applications

The class 051 341-6 is ideal for use in Era IV freight traffic. It can pull heavy freight trains on your model railroad layout and authentically depict the atmosphere of the early 1970s. Thanks to its historical significance and its technical equipment, it is also ideal for demonstrations and collections.

Conclusion and purchase recommendation

The Trix 25830 H0 class 051 steam locomotive is an exceptional model that impresses with its detailed design, robust technology and extensive digital functions. This model is an excellent choice for collectors and model railroaders who want to authentically recreate Era IV and heavy freight service.
