The 01 504 express steam locomotive of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) represents the impressive results of the reconstruction program of the GDR. The class 01.5 is the result of an extensive reconstruction program of the Deutsche Reichsbahn of the GDR in the 1960s. Originally built as the 01 series, these locomotives received numerous technical and visual improvements as part of the reconstruction. These included Boxpok wheels for greater stability, Witte wind deflectors in a special design and continuous dome cladding.
The express locomotives were primarily used for high-quality passenger services and could even haul heavy trains at high speed over long distances. The 01 504 locomotive in 1964 condition is a prime example of this class, equipped with a type 2'2'T34 coal tender and the typical dark green basic paint scheme with white decorative stripes.
The model of the 01 504 is a masterpiece of model-making technology.
