The class 2159 dual-power locomotive from Trix brings the latest railroad technology to your H0 layout. The prototype for this model is the Stadler Eurodual of the European Loc Pool AG (ELP), leased to the Deutsche Bahn AG. The locomotive has the typical traffic red paint scheme with the road number 2159 207-0 and will be in current operating condition from the year 2023. The Trix 25980 is a completely new design in a highly detailed metal version - a real highlight for modern Era VI railroad layouts.
This dual-power locomotive combines electric and diesel-electric drive technology. The model impresses with its solid, high-quality construction with numerous separately attached components. The precisely executed roof design with two newly designed pantographs that can be raised and lowered digitally is particularly striking. The powered fan wheels on the roof also set standards in terms of attention to detail and functionality. The many added details such as grab rails, sandboxes, UIC sockets and roof cables underline the high-quality overall impression.
A controlled high-performance drive with centrally installed flywheel mass works inside. Two axles in each bogie are driven via cardan shafts. Traction tires ensure reliable traction. The locomotive is equipped with a digital decoder that is DCC, mfx and RailCom compatible and offers extensive operating and realistic sound functions. An integrated buffer memory ensures the power supply even in the event of brief interruptions.
The model's lighting sets new standards: The three-light headlights and the two red marker lights can be switched on conventionally or digitally depending on the direction of travel. The headlights can be deactivated separately on locomotive sides 1 and 2. There is also a digitally switchable high beam, a double A light function, direction-dependent cab lighting, engine room lighting and even coupler compartment lighting. All lighting functions are implemented with maintenance-free warm white and red LEDs.
With a length over buffers of 26.4 cm, the locomotive is ideal for operation in modern freight and passenger train sets. The kinematics-guided close couplers and the buffer height according to NEM ensure prototypical operation and compatibility with common H0 vehicles. Brake lines, screw couplers and closed rail clearers are included as separately attachable accessories.
The Trix class 2159 is ideal for model railroaders who are looking for an up-to-date locomotive model with the highest level of technical equipment. Whether in active operation or as a highlight in the display case - this dual-power locomotive will win you over with its innovation, performance and modern appearance.
