Description

Trix 25983 H0 Steam Locomotive 2-8-4 "Berkshire" Southern Pacific 3505, Ep. III - US Steam Locomotive with Sound and Smoke Effect

Would you like to use a legendary US steam locomotive with impressive power and authentic sound on your H0 layout? The Trix 25983 Southern Pacific type 2-8-4 "Berkshire" steam locomotive brings American railroad history directly to your tracks - equipped with modern digital technology and dynamic effects.

The "Berkshires" were among the most powerful steam locomotives of their time. With their so-called super-power design, they were developed from the 1920s onwards to meet the increasing demands of freight traffic. The engines with the so-called Coffin preheater were particularly striking, as was the locomotive with the road number 3505.

Historical prototype of the Southern Pacific

The prototype of this model is a Southern Pacific steam locomotive of the wheel arrangement 2-8-4 "Berkshire" with the road number 3505. The deep black basic colouring and the striking coffin preheater characterize the appearance of this powerful locomotive.

The operating condition depicted corresponds to the period between 1945 and 1950 - a phase in which these locomotives still played a central role in American freight traffic.

Completely new construction with many details

The model is a completely new design with a particularly delicate metal construction. The locomotive and tender are largely made of metal and feature numerous separately applied details. Attention has also been paid to a realistic representation in the driver's cab - including a seated driver and stoker figure.

Pipes for the area below the driver's cab are included as separately attachable parts and allow additional detailing.

Powerful drive and modern digital technology

There is a controlled high-performance drive with flywheel mass in the boiler. Four axles are driven, three of which are connected via coupling rods. Traction tires provide improved tractive power.

The locomotive is equipped with a digital decoder and offers extensive operating and sound functions. The decoder supports the DCC, mfx and RailCom formats.

Dynamic smoke emission and realistic lighting

A smoke insert fitted as standard generates a speed-dependent, dynamic smoke output that can be controlled digitally. The front lighting changes depending on the direction of travel and includes one lamp each on the locomotive and tender.

In addition, the driver's cab lighting, number plate lighting and the firebox flickering can be activated separately digitally. The lighting is provided by maintenance-free warm white and red LEDs and is supported by a buffer memory that bridges short periods without power.

A highlight for fans of American steam locomotives

The Trix 25983 "Berkshire" of the Southern Pacific combines historic US railroad technology with modern digital equipment. The combination of delicate metal construction, realistic sound and smoke effects and detailed design makes this model a real highlight on any H0 layout.

Experience American freight traffic on a scale of 1:87 and expand your vehicle fleet with this impressive Southern Pacific steam locomotive.
