A unique piece with an eventful history

In 1916, the Bernina Railway put the six-axle Ge 6/6 81 freight locomotive into service - unique in design and function. With a centrally mounted running gear including a magnetic rail brake and traction rod drive, it was a technical one-off. Between 1928 and 1929, the locomotive was converted by SLM Winterthur to four-axle bogies with blind shafts. After being renumbered in 1961, it operated as Ge 4/4 181 until it was decommissioned in 1965 - and then found a new home on the Blonay-Chamby Museum Railway.

Back on the tracks - now as a model

The Bemo model shows the locomotive in its last operating condition on the Bernina line. It is based on a completely new mold and is part of the Metal Collection - a series of the finest small series models in a combination of white metal, brass and plastic parts for maximum detailing and collector's value.

The model is equipped with a bell-shaped armature motor that drives all axles. The center frame can be moved sideways and is spring-mounted - for optimum driving characteristics. This model cannot be re-gauged to H0e.
