Description

Bemo 2295122 H0m Articulated Tank Car Za 8112, RhB, Era V-VI Product Details

Bemo 2295122 H0m Articulated Tank Car Za 8112, RhB, Ep. V–VI – Classic Hazardous Materials Car with Leaf-Spring Bogies

Are you looking for an authentic freight car model for your H0m layout? The Za 8112 articulated tank car from Bemo brings the Rhaetian Railway’s hazardous materials transport from Epochs V and VI to your model tracks with meticulous detail. With its distinctive appearance and leaf-spring bogies, it belongs to the group of RhB tank cars newly acquired starting in the 1990s—an indispensable model for realistic freight trains.

New Requirements – New Cars

The introduction of stricter hazardous materials regulations in the 1990s made a comprehensive fleet modernization necessary for the RhB. While it was worthwhile to retrofit the newer Uah cars, the older vehicles were not retrofitted. Instead, the RhB procured a total of 18 new articulated tank cars—today’s Za 8101–8118—with a capacity of 42,000 liters. Existing older bogies were reused, including the leaf-sprung bogies from the 8155–8162 series.

Technology with limitations—realistically depicted

The bogies used on Za 8101–8108 proved problematic because they had only a limited load-bearing capacity. A full load was technically possible but was not permitted for safety reasons—a regulation that was not always followed. Following several derailments, many cars were retrofitted with more robust bogies starting in 2007. However, on the Za 8112 shown here, the original leaf-sprung bogies were retained.

Model with typical prototype features

The Bemo Za 8112 is a true-to-life model with a length over buffers of 166 mm. The model impresses with its crisp printing, realistic styling, and rich detail. The car is ideal for use in contemporary RhB freight trains and combines perfectly with the Za 8103, which is also available.

Pre-order now—hazardous materials transport just like the prototype

With the Bemo Za 8112, you can expand your freight train fleet with an important vehicle in RhB history. Ideal for anyone who values realistic operational representation and technical diversity. Get yours now!
