Description

Brawa 44158 H0 Triebwagen 511-521, DRG, Ep. II Product Details

Historical elegance on your H0 layout - The DRG "Rübezahl" electric railcar

With the Brawa 44158 DRG 511-521 railcar, you can bring a unique piece of railroad history from Era II to your layout. The vehicle affectionately known as "Rübezahl" stands for the advent of electric train transportation in the 1920s - and impresses as a model with its authentic appearance, sophisticated technology and fascinating historical background.

Technical data and equipment

The model is designed for 2-wire direct current (DC) operation and is based on the historic railcar with the road number Breslau 517. It belongs to Era II and is equipped with a PluX22 interface - ideal for anyone who would like to digitally retrofit the railcar. New motorization ensures smooth running characteristics and a new sound rounds off the nostalgic driving experience - can be activated as an option with digitalization.

Lighting and visual effects

The LED lighting enables realistic white light changes. The model also has illuminated upper carriage lanterns and rear train lights. The interior lighting can be switched separately and creates an atmospheric effect - especially in darkened layout environments. The third headlight can also be switched separately and underlines the attention to detail of this vehicle.

Design & true to scale

With a length over buffers of 251.7 mm, the model is in prototypical scale. It has a coupling system with NEM shaft and close coupling kinematics, which allows flexible integration into existing train formations. The classic design with open entrance platforms, in combination with the historically correct DRG color scheme, makes the railcar a visual highlight on any layout.

Prototype history: The "Rübezahl" in Silesia

Originally intended for suburban traffic in Berlin, the four-axle railcars were used on the so-called "Zackenbahn" in the Silesian mountains from 1926. The vehicles, produced by LHW, WUMAG and SSW, were quickly given the nickname "Rübezahl", named after the mountain spirit of the Giant Mountains. They were intended for difficult use in mountainous terrain - with frequently changing traffic volumes and sometimes traveling solo, sometimes with a sidecar.

During their service life, they initially bore the numbers 511-521, later elT 1011-1019 and finally ET89 01-11. Only one example, the ET89 04, survived until the post-war period in the Deutsche Bundesbahn fleet and was decommissioned in 1959 - today only a few photos remain of this unique railcar.

A model with collector's value

The Brawa elT 517 is not only an enrichment for model railroaders interested in history, but also for all those who place particular value on authentic vehicles of early electric train transportation. With its combination of history, technology and design, this railcar will quickly become the centerpiece of any Era II layout.
