Brawa 44160 H0 Triebwagen 511-521, DRG, Ep. II, DC-Sound Product Details
A piece of railroad history in sound - the elT 517 "Rübezahl" with DC sound
The Brawa 44160 elT 517 DRG railcar is an acoustically and visually authentic highlight for your H0 layout. The legendary DRG railcar "Rübezahl" from Era II has been faithfully reproduced - now with modern digital technology and sound function for DC systems. Perfect for model railroaders with a love of history and a sense of technical refinement.
Technical features at a glance
The railcar is designed for the 2-wire direct current system and has digital technology with a sound module ex works. With the road number Breslau 517, the model exactly reflects the historical prototype. A PluX22 interface guarantees modern connection options. Thanks to the new motor, the model runs particularly quietly and smoothly.
Lighting & visual highlights
Equipped with modern LED technology, the railcar has white headlights, a third separately switchable headlight as well as illuminated upper car lanterns and rear train lights. The interior lighting can be switched separately - ideal for atmospheric night journeys and realistic station scenes.
Design & workmanship
With a length over buffers of 251.7 mm and a minimum radius of 360 mm, the model is perfectly dimensioned for typical H0 layouts. The NEM coupling shafts with close coupling kinematics ensure flexible application options with matching wagons. The authentic DRG livery and the striking design with open access platforms make the "Rübezahl" an eye-catcher.
Historical background: The electric pioneer in the Giant Mountains
Even before the First World War, there were plans in Prussia to electrify Silesian lines. Operation on the "Zackenbahn" between Hirschberg and Polaun began in 1923. Between 1926 and 1927, the now legendary Breslau 511-521 railcars were built - striking vehicles that were affectionately called "Rübezahl" by the locals.
They ran with up to eight sidecars, sometimes also solo, and were later known as elT 1011-1019 and ET89 01-11. Only a few survived the Second World War, with ET89 04 remaining in service the longest - until 1959. Today, only models and photos remain as reminders of this former icon of Silesian railroad history.
A model for discerning history buffs
The Brawa 44160 elT 517 offers everything that inspires model railroaders with a soft spot for early electrification: attention to detail, authentic paintwork, digital technology and convincing sound. A real collector's item with a historical background and high recognition value on any layout.
