Description

Brawa 51367 H0 Covered Freight Car Gmms [14.02], DR, Era IV, Zeiss Product Details

Brawa 51367 H0 Covered Freight Car Gmms [14.02], DR, Era IV, Zeiss – Standard Car with a Unique Look

Are you looking for a freight car that’s faithfully detailed and instantly recognizable? The Brawa 51367 Gmms from the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR), featuring a special design with “Zeiss” advertising lettering, is a real eye-catcher—and at the same time a typical example of the Europe-wide UIC standard in freight transport during Era IV.

Model with exquisite detailing

The car impresses with a length over buffers of 121 mm as well as short-coupling kinematics according to the NEM standard for reliable operation. High-quality metal wheel sets, metal axle boxes, and separately attached handrails as well as axle box covers underscore the model’s quality. The multi-part braking system with brake shoes at wheel level and a prototypical design on the car floor provides visual depth and maximum fidelity to the prototype.

The Prototype – European Standard Meets GDR Variant

Based on the standards of the International Union of Railways (UIC), standardized freight cars were developed throughout Europe beginning in the 1950s. The Deutsche Reichsbahn also adopted these standards and adapted them to national requirements. The Gmms 14.02 car type emerged from retrofit programs for older vehicles and became one of the most widespread covered freight car types in DR freight transport.

Industrial design meets railroad history

The car bears the road number 21 50 120 0095-0 and was registered with the DR as a private car featuring advertising for “Zeiss”—a reference to the long-standing optical industry in the GDR. Such advertising cars were not common and make this model a special eye-catcher in a train formation.

Ideal for typical DR freight trains of the 1970s and 1980s

Whether in single-car operation, in a mixed freight train, or as part of industrial freight service—this car fits perfectly into Era IV operations with DR locomotives such as the BR 110, 118, or 120. It really comes into its own in shunting scenes or in front of large industrial facilities.

A classic of the GDR freight car fleet with advertising features

The Brawa 51367 is a historically accurate, technically precise, and visually distinctive model for anyone who wants to recreate Era IV authentically and with attention to detail.
