ESU 31435 H0 Diesellok KG230, Nr. 5, VTG, Ep. V, DC+AC-Sound Product Details
ESU 31435 H0 Diesel locomotive KG230 No. 5, VTG, Ep. V, DC+AC sound - Industrial precision in miniature
The ESU 31435 H0 diesel locomotive KG230 No. 5 in the design of VTG (Vereinigte Tanklager und Transportmittel GmbH) brings the robust world of industrial railroads to your model layout. This two-axle diesel hydraulic locomotive is a prime example of reliable factory logistics in Era V and impresses with a high degree of technical detailing and digital sophistication. With universal AC/DC electronics, extensive light and sound equipment and the finest model workmanship, it is a real highlight for industrial, port and shunting scenarios.
The prototype - powerful and durable
The Deutz KG230 B was developed from 1962 as a reliable works locomotive. Equipped with a 230 hp air-cooled twelve-cylinder diesel engine or, as in special cases, with a water-cooled six-cylinder engine, it was designed for heavy-duty tasks in works and shunting operations. Many of these vehicles - including VTG No. 5 - remained in service for decades, as they were often sold on instead of being decommissioned due to their reliability and solid construction. The KG230 could be found in almost every large industrial or port railroad.
Outstanding model technology in a compact form
The model impresses with a metal frame, finely designed stems, openwork steps and separately applied details. The bell-type armature motor with flywheel mass ensures smooth running, while the factory-fitted LokSound 5 decoder reproduces true-to-original engine sounds - both the air-cooled and water-cooled versions. A special feature: The smoke generator, which works in sync with the sound, further enhances the authenticity.
Digital functionality at the highest level
Thanks to the PowerPack capacitor, the locomotive continues to run reliably even during short power interruptions. In terms of lighting, it offers a light change depending on the direction of travel, separately switchable headlights as well as cab, driver's desk, shunting and running gear lighting. Additional effects such as brake sparks and the digital, height-adjustable shunting coupling for U-couplings set this model functionally apart from conventional industrial locomotives.
Ideal for compact layouts with realistic requirements
With a length over buffers of just 92.3 mm, the KG230 is ideal for compact stations, factory sidings and industrial dioramas. The universal switchability between two-wire and medium-wire operation also makes it flexible for use on different layouts. Two enclosed aerials and a pipette for filling the smoke generator round off the scope of delivery.
