Description

Fleischmann 7360036 N diesel locomotive 218 218-6, DB, Ep. IV Product Details

Fleischmann 7360036: DB diesel locomotive 218-218-6 in ocean blue/beige - N gauge, Era IV

A real highlight for friends of the German Federal Railways: The Fleischmann 218-218-6 diesel locomotive in the authentic color scheme of Era IV. As the first of its series in ocean blue/beige design, this model not only brings historical charm but also technical sophistication to the N-gauge layout. Perfect for use in front of passenger and freight trains, this locomotive impresses with the finest detailing and innovative lighting functions.

Design & workmanship

The 218 218-6 was built by Krupp in 1974 and marked the beginning of a new era in the design of the 218 series. With its ocean blue roof and beige side paintwork used for the first time, it sets visual accents that are also shown to their best advantage in the model. As usual, the lettering, proportions and surface structure have been faithfully reproduced by Fleischmann down to the smallest detail.

Technical features & special functions

The locomotive not only impresses with its appearance, but also with its practical functions. For example, the tail light can be deactivated via DIP switches - ideal for multiple traction or push-pull operation. The integrated driver's cab lighting can be switched separately in digital mode. Those who drive with Z21 can also enjoy the support of the Z21 driver's cab - for an even more realistic driving experience.

Historical background

As the first 218 in the new livery, the locomotive was assigned to the Nuremberg depot and operated from Regensburg depot in southern Germany. It operated in this livery until 1987 and played a decisive role in shaping the appearance of the Bundesbahn. Its versatility in train service makes it a popular representative of Era IV to this day.

Compatibility & expansion options

  • Suitable for all common N track systems with 2L direct current
  • Can be retrofitted with Next18 decoders for digital use
  • Can be combined with DB Era IV freight and passenger coaches
  • Ideally controllable with Z21 or compatible digital command stations

Purchase arguments & target group

A must for fans of Era IV and anyone who wants to add a realistically painted and technically sophisticated model to their layout. The locomotive is suitable for both ambitious beginners and experienced model railroaders. A real collector's item with rarity value thanks to the authentic ocean blue/beige paintwork!
