Description

Märklin 81773 Z train set Rübenzug, VGH, Ep. IV Product Details

Märklin 81773 Beet Train Train Set: Historic VGH Freight Train in Era IV

The Märklin 81773 Beet Train train set is a detailed reproduction of a typical freight train of the Grafschaft Hoya (VGH) transportation company for the fall beet campaign. With its V 36 locomotive and the realistically loaded freight cars, this set will be an eye-catcher on your Z-gauge layout.

The prototype: VGH beet trains

In the 1980s, beet trains characterized the image of the VGH line between Syke, Bruchhausen-Vilsen, Hoya and Eystrup. The V 36 005, a former DB locomotive, was the centerpiece of these operations. The VGH was considered a "V 36 paradise", as it had eight locomotives of this type, which supported operations for almost 35 years. Since 1998, the V 36 005 has belonged to the German Railway Association in Bruchhausen-Vilsen and is still in service today for special trips. The wagon fleet consisted of open freight wagons of type Eo 17, which were taken over empty, loaded with beets and returned to the DB.

Detailed and high-quality realization

The model has a detailed design and high-quality workmanship:

  • The V 36 005 locomotive has a bell-type armature motor and is predominantly made of metal, which gives it high stability and tractive power.
  • The headlights change between warm white and red LEDs depending on the direction of travel.
  • The three Eo 17 open freight wagons are prototypically printed and equipped with a realistic beet load.

The set also includes an elaborately laser-cut kit for loading beets, which is made of architectural cardboard. The dimensions of the finished model are 42 mm x 32 mm x 45 mm (L x W x H).

Combination options and use

The set can be extended with the supplementary set 82396 to increase the capacity of the beet train. It is ideal for depicting rural freight traffic of Era IV on a Z-gauge layout. The combination of locomotive, goods wagon and beet loading ensures realistic and varied scenarios.

Conclusion: Authenticity and rural charm

The Märklin 81773 Beet Train set is an excellently designed model that perfectly captures the authenticity of historic agricultural freight traffic. It is an ideal addition for collectors and model railroaders who want to depict scenarios with a regional character.
