PIKO 22030 - H0 Diesel locomotive D.445 1st series with logo, FS, Era V

With the Piko 22030, PIKO presents a real highlight for fans of Italian railroad models: the FS (Ferrovie dello Stato) D.445 diesel locomotive in the first series version with raised FS logo. This Era V version combines a classic look with modern model technology - ideal for authentic operational representations in the Italian network of the 1990s.

The D.445 was the universal genius in FS diesel operation and was produced in several series. The first series presented here was characterized by the characteristic housing with the eye-catching fans and the elegant front design. PIKO is now bringing this prototype as a high-quality H0 model with numerous details and functional digital preparation.

Digitally prepared & sound-capable

The locomotive has a digital interface in accordance with NEM 658 (PluX22) and is therefore ideally prepared for retrofitting with a sound decoder. The technology allows clean digital control of lighting and driving functions. A suitable PIKO sound decoder is available separately.

Lighting & additional functions

The locomotive is equipped with a white/red light change depending on the direction of travel. Digitally switchable cab lighting is also provided - can be used in combination with a PluX22 decoder. The lighting is based on long-life LED technology and ensures a harmonious operating picture by day and night.

Detailing & model appearance

The model is visually impressive with free-moving fan wheels under finely etched fan grilles, detailed interior fittings and the successful implementation of the typical housing shape of the first series. The raised FS logo rounds off the authentic appearance perfectly.

Technical data & compatibility

With a length over buffers of 162 mm, the locomotive is ideal for regional trains and branch lines, but can also be used in heavy diesel operation on main lines. The minimum radius is 358 mm.Two traction tires ensure reliable traction. The locomotive has NEM shafts with close coupler link - for reliable operation with all standard wagons.

Prototype & area of use

The D.445 was used in Italy for both passenger and freight traffic and is still in use today in different variants. The first series was particularly striking due to its original shape and the classic logo. The model is ideal for Italian layouts with a focus on the 80s and 90s.

The Piko 22030 diesel locomotive D.445 FS, 1st series with logo, operating instructions and accessories for visual refinement are included in the scope of delivery. The locomotive is analog ex works, but can be retrofitted completely digitally.
