PIKO 22031 - H0 Diesel locomotive D.445 1st series with logo, FS, Era V with sound

With the Piko 22031, PIKO brings the powerful-sounding version of the Italian diesel locomotive D.445 of the Ferrovie dello Stato (FS) to the H0 tracks. This model shows the characteristic first series with raised FS logo in the typical design of Era V. Equipped with a factory-installed PSD XP sound decoder, the locomotive offers an impressive driving experience - both visually and acoustically.

The D.445 was a versatile workhorse of the Italian state railroads and was used for both passenger and freight traffic. The first series is particularly striking due to its classic design and the embossed logo. The PIKO model perfectly reproduces this prototype with great attention to detail and technical sophistication.

Factory sound & digital control

The locomotive is equipped with a PluX22 sound decoder ex works. The PIKO XP decoder offers a variety of typical vehicle sounds such as engine sound, brakes, horn and fan. All functions can be controlled via standard digital command stations - for an authentic sound experience in DC digital operation.

Lighting & additional functions

A light change in white/red depending on the direction of travel and digitally switchable driver's cab lighting ensure an atmospheric display - in both day and night operation. The lighting is based on modern LED technology for long-lasting and even illumination.

Detailing & design

Special visual highlights are the free-moving fan wheels under etched grilles, detailed interior fittings and the classic housing of the first series with raised FS logo. All components are true to scale and finished to a high standard.

Technology & operation

With a length over buffers of 162 mm, the model is ideal for both branch lines and main lines. The minimum radius is 358 mm.Two traction tires provide reliable traction. The locomotive is equipped with an NEM shaft and close coupler link and is therefore ideally suited for everyday model railroad operation.

Prototype & field of application

The D.445 could be seen throughout Italy - from southern Italy to the Alps. In Era V, it was used in front of intercity trains, regional trains and light freight trains. The model is ideal for reproducing Italian operating procedures of the 1990s and is a must for fans of Mediterranean railroads.
