With the Piko 22033, PIKO presents the sound version of the Italian diesel locomotive D.445 in the second series in the Navetta design of the FS (Ferrovie dello Stato). This Era IV model impresses with a successful combination of elegant form, technical functionality and true-to-original design - including a factory-fitted PIKO XP sound decoder.

The D.445 of the second series was developed for versatile use in the Italian diesel network - from fast regional trains to push-pull operation (Navetta) to light freight service. This locomotive was a familiar sight, especially in southern Italy. With the Navetta design and the raised FS logo, the model conveys authentic FS flair of the 1970s and early 1980s.

Digital sound technology ex works

The integrated PluX22 sound decoder offers a wide range of realistic functions: Engine start, driving noises, brakes, fan, horn - all true to the original and digitally controllable. The large-volume loudspeaker ensures a powerful sound on DC digital systems - ready for immediate use without retrofitting.

Lighting & digital functions

The model is equipped with a white/red light change depending on the direction of travel. The driver's cab lighting can also be switched digitally - perfect for authentic operations at dusk, in the depot or in night operation scenarios. All light functions are based on long-life LED technology.

Detailing & design

PIKO has attached great importance to a faithful reproduction: free-moving fan wheels under etched grilles, detailed interior fittings, exact reproduction of the roof and side sections as well as the raised FS logo make this model a highlight on Italian-style layouts.

Technology & compatibility

With a length over buffers of 162 mm, the locomotive is suitable for both regional services and light main line operations. The minimum radius is 358 mm, two traction tires ensure safe traction. The locomotive is equipped with an NEM shaft and close coupler link - for clean driving and coupling operations.

Prototype & area of application

The D.445 was a real all-rounder on the non-electrified FS network. In typical Navetta service, it was also used in push-pull operation. The model is ideal for Italian layouts with a focus on Era IV and is the perfect addition to classic FS car fleets.
