With the Piko 22043, PIKO brings the AC sound version of the powerful German Federal Railroaddiesel locomotive V 90 in its original Era III version to your Märklin layout. This version comes in the original purple-red paint scheme and is equipped with a factory-installed PSD XP sound decoder - for an authentic driving experience and sound ex works.

The V 90 was developed in the mid-1960s as a further development of the V 100 especially for heavy shunting and mainline service. With its robust body, the proven MTU 12V engine and a top speed of 80 km/h, it was a mainstay of freight transportation for decades. Its successor, the class 294, is still in service today.

Digitally equipped with sound ex works

The PIKO XP sound decoder (PluX22) provides realistic locomotive sounds such as engine sound, fan, brakes, signal horn and much more. The locomotive is fully digitized and immediately ready for operation on AC digital systems - a real highlight for Märklin fans with an appreciation for classic diesel operation.

Lighting & digital functions

A white/red light change depending on the direction of travel and digitally switchable cab lighting provide an atmospheric appearance - supplemented by an illuminated driver's desk. All lighting functions can be individually controlled via the digital central unit.

Prototypical detailing

The locomotive shines with numerous applied details such as the Behr type double fan, pot antenna, whistles and wind deflectors. Fine handrails, steps, sleeve buffers with handles as well as attached lubrication and sand boxes round off the harmonious overall picture. Brake hoses and coupling hooks are included as accessories.

Technical data & compatibility

With a length over buffers of 165 mm and a minimum radius of 358 mm, the locomotive is ideal for layouts with intensive freight traffic. The locomotive is equipped with NEM shafts with close coupler link, two traction tires ensure reliable traction in shunting and track service.

The V 90 was used in Era III in shunting and light mainline service at many Federal Railroad stations. The model allows authentic scenarios in the transfer and freight traffic of the 1960s and early 1970s - ideal for DB layouts with a focus on the classic diesel era.
