PIKO 22046 - H0 Class 296 Railion diesel locomotive, Era VI, AC with sound

With the Piko 22046, PIKO presents the AC sound version of the modern shunting locomotive BR 296 in the traffic red Railion version. Equipped with a factory-fitted PSD XP sound decoder, this model brings the ultra-modern workhorse of single wagon traffic realistically to any Märklin-compatible Era VI layout.

The locomotive is technically based on the proven V 90 family and has been extensively modernized since the late 1990s: With radio remote control, safety equipment and optimized drive control, it became the class 296. Today it is an integral part of the DB Cargo fleet and irreplaceable in efficient shunting and transfer traffic.

Sound & digital functions ex works

The PluX22 sound decoder offers an extensive sound spectrum with true-to-original driving, braking and shunting noises, fan noise, compressor and horn. The locomotive is fully digitized and ready for immediate use on AC digital systems.

Lighting & special functions

Equipped with a white/red light change depending on the direction of travel, digitally switchable driver's cab and shunting lighting and an illuminated driver's desk, the model is a real visual highlight - especially in night and BW scenes. The remote control lighting on the driver's cab has also been implemented realistically.

Fine detailing & technology

The locomotive is equipped with a Voith fan wheel and features numerous intricate components: finely engraved fan grilles, grab rails, brake hoses and coupling hooks (included for self-assembly) ensure an authentic appearance. The locomotive not only impresses technically, but also visually across the board.

Dimensions & compatibility

With a length over buffers of 165 mm and a minimum radius of 358 mm, the model is ideally suited to layouts with intensive operating displays. Two traction tires ensure reliable tractive power. The locomotive is equipped with an NEM shaft and close coupler link - for reliable coupling operations.

Prototype & field of application

As a real all-rounder for DB Cargo, the class 296 is used throughout Germany in shunting operations, for transfers and in industrial junctions. On the model, it fits seamlessly into modern Era VI operations - for credible operation on any current H0 layout.
