With the Piko 40449 diesel locomotive 2278 of the Dutch private railroad STAR, PIKO brings a modern all-round locomotive of epoch VI to the N-gauge layout. The model is based on the proven class 2200, which was used in freight, shunting and passenger train service - a real all-rounder that can also be used in many ways in the model.

Robust prototype, modern implementation

The 2278 STAR is presented in the current livery of the museum railroad STAR (Stichting Stadskanaal Rail) and is still active in the Dutch museum railway scene today. PIKO has reproduced the prototype in N scale with clear detailing, clean engravings and a finely printed body - ideal for use in modern branch line operation.

Technology for reliable operation

Equipped with a powerful motor and two traction tires, the model delivers high tractive power and stable running characteristics. Thanks to the white/red LED light change (depending on the direction of travel), the model remains realistic even in changing driving situations. The PluX12 digital interface in accordance with NEM 658 enables uncomplicated retrofitting with a decoder and makes the model fit for digital system operation.
