Classic DB design with prototype character

The class 216 was built from 1964 and, with a 1,400 kW MTU engine, was equally suitable for express, passenger and freight trains. The model faithfully reproduces this prototype - with finely engraved body, clean printing and included accessories for designing the buffer beam. The characteristic blue-beige color scheme of Era IV ensures a high recognition value on the layout.

Sound meets technology in the smallest space

The factory-fitted PIKO sound decoder (Next18) provides realistic locomotive sounds that are perfectly matched to the prototype. An LED light change in white/red depending on the direction of travel increases the closeness to the prototype. Two traction tires ensure reliable traction in daily model railroad operation.

Digital ready and ideal for any Era IV layout

The model is equipped with an NEM 662 Next18 interface and is therefore open for further digital adaptations. With a clearance of 100 mm, the locomotive can also be used flexibly on smaller layouts or in tight radii (from 192 mm) - both in single operation and with longer train formations.
