Historical background
The class 243 was used by the DR from 1984 as a universal electric locomotive for passenger and freight trains. Built by LEW Hennigsdorf, it was a direct response to the increased demand for electric locomotives after the oil crisis. With 640 units, it was one of the most-built electric locomotives in the GDR. After reunification, it was reclassified as the class 143 and remained in active service for many years - a technical legacy of the GDR with supra-regional significance.
Compatibility & expansion options
The locomotive is fully compatible with TT track systems in 2L-DC format and is suitable for numerous train combinations with DR wagons from Era IV. Thanks to the Next18 interface, a digital decoder can be quickly installed - the model is also ideally prepared for sound enthusiasts.
