Historical background
The class 243 was a response to the DR's electrification plans in the 1980s. Developed by LEW Hennigsdorf and delivered from 1984, it could be used universally in passenger and freight train services. With 640 units, it shaped the electric image of the GDR railroad in Era IV. After reunification, it was reclassified as the class 143 and continued to be used in local transport throughout Germany.
Compatibility & expansion options
The locomotive is suitable for TT track systems in 2L-DC operation and can be easily integrated into existing digital systems thanks to the digital interface. It can be ideally combined with DR Era IV passenger or freight cars.
