With the Piko 52119 BR 228 diesel locomotive in the so-called "economy paint scheme", PIKO brings an authentic DC version of the six-axle large diesel locomotive of the Deutsche Reichsbahn to the H0 model railway layout. In Era V, shortly before its incorporation into DB AG, the locomotive appeared in a simplified color scheme and with transitional lettering - perfectly reproduced in this finely detailed model with factory-fitted sound decoder.

One wheelset per bogie is fitted with traction tires (arranged diagonally), which gives the locomotive a high tractive force. The clearance is 224 mm, the minimum radius is 358 mm - ideal for use on main lines or in heavy branch line operation.
