Piko 52389 H0 Diesellok Sm41, PKP, Ep. IV, AC-Sound Product Details
Piko 52389 H0 Diesel locomotive Sm41, PKP, Ep. IV, AC sound - Powerhouse of the Polish shunting service
The Piko 52389 PKP Sm41 diesel locomotive is an acoustically and visually impressive model that brings the history of diesel traction in Poland in Era IV to life. This version is based on the Hungarian M44 series, which was put into service in Poland from 1958 as the SM40 series and quickly developed into a proven solution for shunting and light freight train service.
Historically inspired model with many details
The SM41 was used in railroad depots from Warszawa to Gdańsk and was appreciated not only by the PKP, but also by numerous industrial railroads. The PIKO model shows the characteristic design with ribbed body, attached tank, air conditioning unit, PKP antenna and true-to-original MAV-style exhaust. Finely applied handles, steps, sandboxes and brake shoes round off the image of this robust machine.
Factory-equipped with sound decoder and light functions
The locomotive is factory-equipped with a PSD XP sound decoder, which provides realistic operating sounds and many additional digital functions. The digitally switchable driver's cab lighting and the illuminated driver's desk also provide an atmospheric driving experience, especially in twilight or night operation.
Technically mature for use on AC layouts
The Piko Sm41 is specially designed for AC systems and offers optimum conditions for reliable operation with two traction tires, a powerful drive and NEM shaft with close coupler link. With a clearance of 130 mm and a minimum radius of 358 mm, the locomotive can be used in a variety of ways - especially in shunting operations and on branch lines.
Typical for Era IV - powerful, reliable and easy to maintain
The prototype locomotive was used in almost all major railroad junctions in Poland in the 1960s and 70s. With its striking silhouette and unmistakable sound, it was an integral part of the Polish railroad scene for decades - an image that is authentically staged with this model.
