With the Piko H0 DR Class 772 diesel railcar with control car, PIKO is bringing a classic of GDR local transport to the model railroad. The railcar introduced as VT 2.09 was used throughout the DR network from 1965 - maneuverable, compact and popular. To avoid having to change trains at the terminus, suitable driving trailers were soon introduced. This model set shows the iconic "Ferkeltaxe" including driving trailer in the Era IV version.

Technically sophisticated & prototypical

The railcar is equipped with factory-switchable interior lighting and offers a clear view through the passenger compartment. The powerful miniature motor ensures a reliable ride, even with a driving trailer. Particularly clever: the vehicle automatically detects whether a driving trailer is coupled and adjusts the operating logic accordingly. The digital train destination display can be switched (only with decoder).

Class 772 - Mobility for branch lines

From 1965, over 180 VT 2.09 railcars (later BR 172/772) were put into service. They shaped the image of the branch lines in the GDR until well into the post-reunification period. Their distinctive sound and versatility made them a passenger favorite - and a cult object on model railroads.

Digitally retrofittable & sound-capable

The railcar can be digitally upgraded with an NEM 658 PluX22 interface. A PIKO sound decoder (#56535) can be installed as an option and makes the "Ferkeltaxe" audible. The white/red light change depending on the direction of travel is integrated as standard.
