Roco 70888 diesel locomotive 118 652-7, DR, Ep. IV Product Details
The V 180 series was the first mainline diesel locomotive developed and built in the GDR. Over the course of time, a number of sub-series were created through conversions. A 6-axle version was also developed, which from the outset was powered by a 2,000 hp engine and was designated the 118.2-4 series. When the 1,200 hp engine became available, the C'C' locomotives began to be equipped accordingly. Not all locomotives were converted and so the 2,400 hp machines were given an order number increased by 400 to distinguish them, resulting in the 118.6-8 series.
A special feature of the six-axle version is the low axle mass of 15.6 t, so that this locomotive could also be used universally on branch lines.
