It all began with a simple, almost accidental idea. Denis Korn came across the domain modellbahnshop.de - a quiet promise that soon became a real vision. The success of Musikhaus Korn in the fast-growing e-commerce sector gave him a boost, and the idea of transferring this concept to the fascinating world of model railroads was born.

But every vision needs sound specialist knowledge. In the family business, this know-how at the time: Ralf Korn, Denis' father. A passionate model railroader, skilled master roofer and self-employed for many years. His second eldest son, master roofer and plumber Henry Korn, was ready at the time, to continue the family's roofing business. This opened the door for Ralf to turn his hobby into a profession.

With the active support of his wife Monika, the idea took shape. The business was officially registered on November 2, 2005. Shortly afterwards, the new business opened its doors at Theodor-Körner-Straße 1 in Oschatz - right next to the right next to the "Wilden Robert", the traditional narrow-gauge railroad. A location that was perfect for steam flair, heartbeat and real model train magic.

From the store feeling to the digital space

Parallel to the new store, the company created its own web store, which was directly directly to the merchandise management system. The model train store thus laid the foundation stone for a modern retail structure: digitally strong, personal and approachable on site.

While online trade grew dynamically, the number of visitors to the store also increased steadily. More and more model railway enthusiasts came to Oschatz - attracted by the range, expertise and the special atmosphere that prevailed there.

Ralf and Monika Korn lived a real culture of advice. Every question, every conversation and every personal word became a small moment of solidarity. Between locomotives, track diagrams and detailed display layouts, a place was created, was far more than just a store: a meeting place for enthusiasts, families, collectors collectors and all those who share the fascination of the small world.

The model train store continued to grow year after year - driven by passion, reliability and honest down-to-earthness. Customers became regular customers. Regular customers became friends of the company.

Handover and new growth

In February 2020, Ralf and Monika Korn took their well-deserved retirement and handed over the model train store to Denis Korn. His team integrated the entire area into the existing systems in a structured manner, and it soon became clear that the demand for model trains was growing rapidly.

Due to the closure of many specialist stores in Germany and a growing collector scene, the model train shop the model train store experienced a veritable boom in demand. The stock was significantly expanded, the range broadened and modernized. Sales increased dynamically - the model train store developed into a nationally a nationally known point of contact.

But the story continues. In the meantime, Timon Korn, Denis' eldest son, has also become an integral part of the company. As an authorized signatory and the person responsible for the entire IT structure, he is digitalization, process optimization and modern infrastructure.

In the coming years, Timon will gradually take over larger parts of the company's management and thus prepare the next generation of KORN e.K.
