With the opening of the Weipert-Annaberg railroad line, Cranzahl also received a rail connection on August 3, 1872. In 1880, construction began on the main station building that still exists today, which was regularly extended and renovated. The Cranzahl station became more important with the construction of the narrow-gauge line to Oberwiesenthal. In Cranzahl, the changeover from the standard-gauge track to the narrow-gauge track of the Fichtelberg Railway, which is still in operation today, takes place.
