Description

Brawa 40983 H0 steam locomotive 001 168-4, DB, Ep.IV, AC-Sound-Extra Product Details

Before the class 01 became known as "the" German express locomotive, the companies Borsig (01 001-008) and AEG (01 009-010) delivered a total of ten pre-series locomotives to the Deutsche Reichsbahn Gesellschaft (DRG). The first locomotive was the 01 008, which is still preserved today and was handed over to the DRG on January 10, 1926. Nevertheless, the locomotives were ahead of their time at the time, as many lines and depots were not yet prepared for an axle load of 20 tons. This meant that the operational routes were still very limited in the first years of operation. As a result, testing of the new locomotives was protracted. The most noticeable difference between the first ten 01s and the later series locomotives was that the driver's cab was significantly longer. There were also differences in the design of the frame and many other details.
